We are thrilled to announce that as of January 5, 2024, LHS has officially secured the purchase of an office suite located in McKinney, Texas. The space will serve as the first phase for LHS to open our doors to the public, better service the animals in our community (and beyond), while also contributing to the funding needed for an adoption center. This location will be a veterinary office, namely Legacy Humane Veterinary Clinic, that is open to the public but offers affordable healthcare options at rescue pricing. Funding from this location will be reserved to contribute to our efforts to reach the goal for phase II – which are the expansion plans to open the adoption facility.
In reference to the property LHS owns in Wylie, after listing the property since the fall of 2021, there were no offers, therefore, the property was pulled off the market in Dec 2023 to reset. Feedback was the property was not selling due to being on septic. Tentative plans for the surrounding developers to put in a pipeline (transitioning the property from septic to city sewage) was confirmed to have fallen through as of Jan 2024. The property has been relisted for sale as of February 1, 2024 at a lower residential rate. We are hopeful with the decrease in the listed price that we will be able to secure a buyer in 2024!
The next step in the plans for the new LHS McKinney location will be the interior buildout. Estimated opening date is April 2024.
