Give a Dog a Home Gala – October 21, 2011
The event was held at City Place in Dallas on the 42nd floor. There was a cocktail hour with live music, appetizers, drinks and a silent auction that kicked off the event prior to dinner. Guests enjoyed a delicious, three course meal and had the opportunity to bid on items by cell phone.
The Fundraiser brought in just under $70,000 (bringing our total raised for the new facility to $95,000) after all expenses were paid for the event! Over 200 supporters attended the event. The event was sponsored by OnStage Systems with American Dog Rescue, NovoWorks and The Smiths following up with Platinum and Bronze level sponsorships. Key note speakers included: Arthur Benjamin and Gus Hinajosa. Live music from Derek Teague was performed during the cocktail hour. Scotlund Haisley and his team from Animal Rescue Corps were presented with the Justice Award (given to a group or individual who has gone above and beyond in their care for animals in need). This is the first year the Award was presented and we cannot think of a more deserving team to take this honor than ARC.
The biggest supporters of the night were Arthur Benjamin who donated $15,000 to LHS to sponsor the event and with his charitable matching speech and Shelly Levits who Pledged $15,500 to sponsor the Pit Bull Run, the Cat Colony, whoose donation matched Arthur Benamin and won a trip to Salt Lake City Utah! We cannot thank Benjamin and Levits enough for their generous donation to our cause! Allison Robert brought in $2600 for a private session with Teresa Berg and Lisa Henry Weaver with Coldwell Banker and Rebecca Jones with Barkbuster in Dallas brought in $1500 each for their winning bids on a vacation at a Studio apartment in Panama! There were many many other contributions made at the gala; we thank EVERYONE for their attendance and support and hope to see you all again next year!
After the event, LHS began looking at land to secure for the new facilty! Stay tuned for updates.
