She was adopted from a breeder as a puppy and kept in the yard 24/7. One day her family was getting ready to leave for the day and she chased after them to say her good byes. They didn’t see her coming and accidentally ran her over in the driveway. Unable to afford the care she needed, her family surrendered her to a city shelter. A plea was sent out to the rescue community to help give her emergency medical care. A wonderful foster for Legacy Humane Society stepped up to take her into foster care – which is a temporary home that LHS dogs visit while awaiting their furever home. She was quickly rushed to the vet where they discovered she had a broken hip and leg with possible loss of her tail due to nerve damage. Dr. Bowe at North Colony Animal Clinic completed her surgery and at that point forward she began her recovery and physical therapy process. In the weeks that followed she began to use her leg again and with the slightest wag of her tail we knew she would make a full recovery. During this time she received an amazing application to adopt her from a family in Maine! The potential adopter drove to Texas to meet Luna Belle and it was love at first sight. Luna is now living a wonderful life in Maine. She has regained use of her tail and her hip and legs are good as new. We couldn’t be happier to be a small part of the journey in Luna’s life and thanks to donors like you, LHS was able to give her the life saving care she needed to go on to live a long happy life.
