Suzanne and Lee’s Story Submitted By Vicki Furstenberg:
I would like to submit Suzanne Frilot and her bichon, Baylee, as a candidate for your Wishbone Holiday Campaign.
Baylee is 4 ½ yrs old and was rescued in Oct. 2009 from the Sachse Animal Shelter by Small Paws Rescue. Suzanne and her husband, Lee, were approved to adopt Baylee and she became part of their family in Nov. 2009. Suzanne contacted me this week saying she needed to surrender Baylee because she could not afford the care that she desperately needed.
Baylee began having issues with her left eye in July and her right eye in October. She is partially blind and needs to see an eye specialist. She also started having blood in her urine this past week which is indicative of bladder stones. She had surgery for bladder stones about 2 years ago.
Suzanne can not afford these extra expenses due to her and her husband’s health issues. Suzanne was diagnosed in 2002 with Melanoma. It reared it’s ugly head again in June 2013. This past summer she had 16 lymph nodes removed with 1 having cancer cells. The current treatment she is on, makes her sick.
Lee, 64 yrs old, was diagnosed in 2006 with early onset Alzheimer’s. He was 57. It had progressed to the point where he had to be moved to an Alzheimer’s home in April 2013, over an hour away from home. Baylee was a lot of company to Lee and gave him some responsibility.
Suzanne and Lee have participated the last several years in the Alzheimer’s walk to raise awareness and donations. She has given of herself for a worthy cause and I hope you will agree that she is deserving of help in her time of need. Baylee would love to be able to spend the rest of her life with Cotton, the other Bichon in the family and Suzanne.
Thank You,
Vicki Furstenberg
