The Cope Family’s Story submitted by Stacy Hague:
I would like to nominate The Cope family for this years Wishbone campaign.
They have an 8 year old pit bull who used to be active, but is now on limited activity due to a loose acl. They have tried steroid treatment for 30 days along with cage rest. While it made a slight improvement in Chevy’s leg she is still in need of help which this family can’t afford to do at this time. The vet said her next step would to see an orthopedic doctor and go from there. They have been seeing one of the vets at Farmers Branch Animal Clinic.
From Brittany: “Chevy is an 8 year old American Pitbull. She lives inside our home with a senior greyhound and a Visla mix. She used to be a very active dog. She loved going to the lake and swimming but hates water and baths. She used to attend daycare. She used to climb trees and climb on top of the dog house in her play yard. Which is probably how she got in this predicament anyhow. She has a loose acl on her right back leg. We’ve attempted steroid treatment and kennel isolation.”
Sadly Chevy is now on very restricted exercise. While her playtime has been taken away her spirit hasn’t. She still carries around 2 balls at all times, wags her tail when we come home and loves on her human two year old brother. Like everyone else, we’ve been hit by hard times and simply can not afford the expense of the impeding knee surgery.
